Thank you to everyone that was able to join us on St. Patrick’s Day for the luncheon at Marriott Minneapolis West in St. Louis Park. It was the perfect location for the day since Kip’s Authentic Irish Pub and Restaurant is located on property.
As an avid sailor, Mike Foley founded and expanded Clarity Central to offer life/career renewal expeditions and coaching sessions on the water. “There’s something about being on the water that invites a different perspective and clarity that can’t be found in a conference room,” he observes. Michael has an MA in Human Development, post-graduate certificates in coaching, and a USCG captain’s license.
Michael Foley gave an inspirational, productive and interactive session, “Speaking on the Spot – The Art of Persuasion”. Below are some examples he provided on how to be heard above the rest with clarity and power so we have a significant advantage in the marketplace.
- DiffSpeak confidently in a variety of extemporaneous and difficult situations.
- Persuade using interesting examples and stories to drive your point home.
- Explain technical information in a simple and understandable way.
Don’t forget about these three very important points that Aristotle’s Rhetoric examines:
- Logos – Logic/Structure
- Pathos – Passion/Belief
- Ethos – Ethics/Credibility
As you prepare for your next meeting, presentation or proposal to a client/management make sure to breathe, organize and present your information keeping in mind the tips and techniques that Michael Foley explained.
Thank you again to our generous sponsors: Marriott Minneapolis West and Élan Speakers Agency.
